Congratulations to our students who took part in All-State this weekend! The Belhaven All-State Orchestra is a prestigious event which is open to high school string musicians in 8th grade and above from across the State of Mississippi. Students are chosen by audition to take part in this orchestral opportunity. The Concert, which was open to the public, was held on March 25th and included such pieces as The Concerto for Two Violins in D Minor by Bach, The Holberg Suite, Op. 40 by Edvard Grieg, and The Danzas de Panama by William Grant Still. The students who participated in this event are members of the Columbus Suzuki Strings Program under the direction of Diane Ford. Columbus Suzuki Strings receives Commendation
Senate Concurrent Resolution 635 to commend the Columbus Suzuki Strings program, especially Trudy Gildea and Diane Ford, for representing the state at Carnegie Hall was passed by the Mississippi Senate and referred to the House Rules Committee on Friday, March 10, 2017. The resolution was introduced by Senators Younger, Gollott, Massey, Butler, Harkins, Chassaniol, Horhn, Simmons, and Tindell.We are grateful for this recognition of our current success and our long history of serving our area through music: SC0635PS.
